Alyssa Lillee

Alyssa Lillee is an accredited Occupational Therapist who has worked in the mental health field for eighteen years in a variety of clinical and academic settings. 

She completed a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) at Murdoch University in 1993 and Bachelor of Science (Occupational Therapy) at Curtin University, Western Australia in 1997.

She is a member of OT Australia and the World Federation of Occupational Therapy (WFOT). She has worked within the fields of the Western Australian workers’ compensation system, disability, community mental health and psychiatric clinical research.

Alyssa has conducted numerous presentations of her clinical research at University Lectures, workshops and International Conferences. Her particular interest is the impact of trauma on mental health. She has undergone further education and training on the impact of childhood trauma, trauma and recovery, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Schema Therapy, Prolonged Exposure (PE) Therapy, migrant mental health, and education on PTSD and the military, provided by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs. In conjunction with her clinical experience, her academic and clinical based research has focused on the development and evaluation of clinically appropriate assessment and program evaluation instruments, the evaluation of the mental health of recently arrived refugees, the evaluation of services for survivors of torture and trauma and the impact of psychological trauma on mental health conditions and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

In recent years she has worked predominately with people who have been diagnosed with PTSD both within group-based therapy programs and individual sessions. Alyssa is passionate that those who have experienced trauma receive treatment that is holistic and internationally accepted as best practice.
