Pax Centre is the first clinic in Australia to offer Intensive EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing). The condensed format of therapy is delivered by an experienced team of therapists and can be tailored to best suit your needs.

Our program allows for 4 months of regular trauma-focussed therapy to be condensed into a much shorter period of time. Intensive EMDR therapy is evidenced-based and results in quicker taxing and desensitisation of trauma memory networks and associated emotional and somatic charge, resulting in a more rapid reduction of PTSD symptoms than regular therapy (Van Woudenberg et al, 2018; Bongaerts et al 2017).

Why Intensive EMDR therapy might suit you:

  • Pax Centre offers flexibility in the way Intensive EMDR therapy can be delivered. We understand each individual has different needs and we will work with you to achieve your goals.

  • For those travelling regionally, interstate or who wish to progress through their treatment course faster we can offer twice daily therapy over five days (Monday to Friday) reducing the length of our intensive course.

  • Our program is delivered by a multidisciplinary team of specialised psychological trauma therapists, with medical support from Pax Centre Co-director Consultant Psychiatrist Jon Laugharne. You can read more about our team here.

  • Our program is based on current research by world leaders, plus past clinical research by Pax Centre Co-Directors and from our close and direct working relationship with Psytrec from 2017-2019.

  • Intensive EMDR therapy can be funded by insurers including DVA, workers compensation and road traffic accident. The faster symptomatic recovery will result in enhanced functioning including vocational rehabilitation, less time away from work, less economic and health costs.
