Samantha Hewlett

Samantha is a Mental Health Occupational Therapist and an Accredited EMDR practitioner with over 20 years’ experience in the field of mental health, both in the UK and Australia.

Her specialist interest and area of clinical expertise is in complex trauma and PTSD. She has extensive experience working with adult survivors of childhood trauma, as well as first responders and combat veterans.

Samantha understands the daily struggle of living with trauma which can create a significant range of complex issues including anxiety, mood and personality disorders, sleep problems, reduced confidence, low self-esteem and a poor sense of self.

Samantha has specialist training and is experienced in providing therapies including;

·        Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

·        Schema Therapy

·        Imagery Rescripting

·        Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

·        Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

·        Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

·        Neuropsychotherapy,

She has also trained in Working with Dissociation with two of the world’s leading experts in the field. 

She has guest lectured at Edith Cowan University (ECU) and was a presenter at the inaugural International Neuropsychotherapy Conference in Brisbane.

Samantha has a passion for helping clients understand how the brain and body reacts when our environment triggers a traumatic memory.  This insight provides clients with a greater understanding of not only what is happening when they react to situations, but why, giving clients more confidence when applying the learned strategies in order to heal themselves. 

Samantha’s approach to therapy with her clients is respectful, honest and supportive. Her utmost priority is to create a safe, trusting space to enable her clients to develop a deeper understanding of themselves in order to move towards recovery and post-traumatic growth.
