Susan Medica

Susan is a registered Psychologist with AHPRA, and a member of the AustralianPsychological Society (APS).

Susan holds a Bachelor of Psychology degree (University of WA) and a Master of Psychology degree (Curtin University of Technology).

Post-Master’s, Susan completed a two-year Psychology Board approved registrar program, obtaining a specialist title in Counselling Psychology.

For over 25 years Susan has worked as a Psychologist in a variety of roles and organizations, including Road Trauma Support, Curtin University Counselling & Disability Services, Department of Communities, King Edward Memorial Hospital and with private vocational rehabilitation services.

A strong clinic interest of Susan is working with people who have experienced trauma, both recent and past. In addition to counselling, Susan enjoys consulting to organizations in the areas of stress management, trauma awareness/prevention and managing vicarious trauma. In recent years Susan has developed and facilitated workshops for first responder/emergency personnel (police, ambulance & fire), road maintenance crews and university campus staff. 

Susan has a caring, compassionate and empathic approach to her work.  Treatment is tailored to individual goals and needs whether short or longer-term.  Susan applies training from a variety of techniques and therapies including: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT); Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT); Relaxation and Mindfulness practices; Brief Psychodynamic Therapy; Motivational Interviewing and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT).Susan specialises in working with adult and older adolescent clients experiencing problems related to:

·   pregnancy and parenting challenges
